	What type of veins can be treated with laser therapy How does a laser help? How many treatments are required?	Can we be sure that this will work on my veins? What does it feel like? Is this treatment difficult ?
	What type of veins can be treated with laser therapy? Spider veins on the face and legs bother millions of people. Spider veins (or telangiectasias) are red, bluish or purple veins than can result from sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, the aging process, or heredity. Advanced laser technology offers an effective treatment for facial and spider veins. And we now offer treatment with this technology in our office. return to top How does a laser help? The laser delivers a specific wavelength of light that is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the vessel, thus The laser coagulates the blood in the vessel and collapses it. It takes 6 - 12 weeks for your body to reabsorb the coagulated blood leaving clearer looking skin where the vessel was. return to top What many treatments are required? Like with any other laser treatments, the number of treatments depends on different factors. Typically, one to three treatments are recommended. return to top Can we be sure that this will work on my veins? This is something that must be determined with each patient individually, but the majority of patients will benefit from this treatment. return to top What does it feel like? Discomfort varies from person to person. It depends on the size, color and depth of the vessels being treated, as well as the pain tolerance of the person. Although many patients report little or no discomfort, some may experience an aching or stinging sensation when the laser pulse is delivered. return to top Is this treatment difficult? No. This non-invasive treatment process takes between 15 minutes to 1/2 hour, depending on the size and number of vessel(s)to be treated. After treatment, the area may look irritated, red, and or swollen. This usually does clear up in a few days. We do ask that you refrain from vigorous exercise and avoid hot tubs for 5 - 7 days post treatment. Also, avoid direct sun exposure after treatment and if you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 35 Sun Block (not sunscreen). return to to
