Nail Fungus Treatment FAQ

How does the laser work?

Laser treatment of nail fungus involves the use of a special laser designed to penetrate the nail without damaging the nail or its underlying tissue. Only those cells responsible for the infection are destroyed.

Is the process painful?

Not only is the treatment virtually painless, but polish can be applied to nails and shoes can be worn immediately after the procedure.

How long does the healing process take?

For toenails, within 3 months of treatment healthy new nail growth will be visible. Within one year of treatment (on average), a new healthy nail will have replaced the old one entirely. Fingernails grow moderately faster than toenails. On Average, a new healthy nail will have replaced the old one within 5 months of treatment.

How safe is this treatment?

Will insurance pay for the treatment of nail fungus?

No. insurance companies consider nail fungus treatment a cosmetic procedure. If your employer provides a cafeteria plan, you may be able to set aside a portion of your pre-tax earnings for this expense.
