Nail Fungus Treatments (NEW)
Traditionally, nail fungus (onychomycosis) has been a very difficult fungal infection to treat because it penetrates the nail bed and is difficult to reach. The fungus infects toenails, and to a lesser extent fingernails.
Treatments generally involve the application of topical medications contained in nail paint and cream, or the ingestion of systemic medications, which are known to cause an assortment of health problems. Sometimes treatment involves a combination of the two methods. Because fungal infections in the nails are difficult to reach, and because it takes so long for nails to grow, the treatment and healing process can be a lengthy one, often taking longer than one year.
Whereas topical and systemic medications have a success rate of only 50%, clinical research has revealed that 88% of patients who receive laser treatment for their infections show significant improvement with the nail fungus being completely eliminated in most cases.
